Sanctuary was established on a prophetic word from God given on 7 February 1999:
"Create a place of sanctuary. Peace, My peace.
Somewhere that I can draw people to - where I can speak to them - where I can draw near to them.
Give them space to grow. Accept all people.
Give them a chance to try things out - feel secure.
From a secure, safe place they can try out new areas of worship - new depths of worship.
I want to draw you so much closer to me in worship into a place so special and deep it will knock your socks off!
Don't disapprove of people's feeble attempts at finding me - don't make them feel that they are wrong. You will alienate them if you show your disapproval - they will feel that you disapprove of them as people - I do not disapprove of them.
If they look in the wrong place for me, I do not condemn them.
I gently speak to them and guide them.
I rejoice that they are looking at all.
Come to people with a spirit like mine - of acceptance, of love.
Recognise their seeking
Don't worry your hearts that they are getting mixed up in something of the enemy - I am bigger than him - My ways are greater than his little schemes and plans.
We can wipe out the dross later from their lives.
You Christians often give the enemy too much credit.
Don't be fearful of other religious practices and worship.
Even though they are going in a different way - being misled, I still see them.
Remember my illustrations of sheep I used so much - remember they are sheep easily led away, easily influenced.
Don't think that just because they are praying differently, worshipping differently, that I don't see them, that I don't accept their prayers. I still do.
However misguided they are, I don't turn my face away from them - I love them more than that.
They are my children. You are not my only children. I weep for them.
I need you Christians who know me to reach out to them for me.
Don't look at their practices disapprovingly - You will put them off and turn them away from me.
I want them to turn to me, not away.
Be gentle - accepting.
Do everything out of a motive of love - as I do.
Don't build castles for yourselves.
Build for me.
Love you - Jesus"
